Allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for being a subscriber (either by RSS or email, hopefully both).  It is fitting that MarketingProfessor.com releases it’s two Online Marketers FAQ Special Reports, as a token of gratitude to my subscribers.

Online Marketers FAQs Available for Downloadlegitimate ways to make money online

Whether you are struggling with your Web 2.0 marketing strategy or simply trying to figure out legitimate ways to make money online these reports are designed to offer real, profitable, advice that will save you time, frustration, and headaches.

Part I addresses the Top 10 common questions many have when getting started. Many of these questions I had as well (and had to get answers in the school of hard knocks), including:

#3 What ways are there to make money online?
#6 How much to do I need to know about the search engines to make money online?
#8 I have a list of subscribers that I haven’t emailed in some time, what should I do (to revive them)?
#10 I see a ton of potential with online marketing, but at this point I’m overwhelmed.  What do I do?

legitimate ways to make money online

Part II is the Top 10 Questions those Interested in Growing a Business Online Should ask, but don’t (wish I did).  These are questions I didn’t know existed when getting started.  When I was beginning in online marketing, knowing these were questions worth asking would have been nice, let alone the answers.  A sampling here:

#1 Is there a market for what you want to offer?
#2 Does the market have money they are willing to part with?
#6 Getting started will require an investment of time (sometimes a significant amount), have you prepared those around you for that?  Do you have their support?
#8: How can I work most effectively in order to get the fastest results
#10: After the sale, what will you do to help the customer and assure them they made a good decision and even get more sales?

The number one reason many don’t make it online, is they don’t ask the right questions up front. Whether a small business owner wanting to grow their business online with a web 2.0 marketing strategy, an individual interested in internet marketing to possibly replace their day job, or a marketing veteran, the information shared in this report will save you time, and help you with important questions you must ask so you can see the legitimate ways to make money online.  It is free when you join MarketingProfessor.com.

Just downloaded the reports. Thanks for explaining the email verification process, and the immediate follow up. I’m excited to get started reading, at first glance it seems right up my alley.

  • Travis Campbell

Thanks Kevin, check back and let us know what you thought, and how you might improve your situation with the information presented in the reports.

These reports really hit the mark. They are concise and easy to follow. I like the fact too that you’re honest about the hard work it takes to attract and retain customers. No pie in the sky promises, just solid steps and techniques to get results through proven marketing processes. Now, I just need to go out and implement these ideas!

  • Travis Campbell

    Jeff-

    Hey, nice seeing you here.

Thanks for your candor. Being in business, and marketing online is fun, but hard work. It is so easy to get overwhelmed…and freeze. Just pick 1 thing you can do in the next 24 hours and do it. I’m not sure what it is, but after 24 hours of being ‘on the shelf’ things just never get implemented. After doing that, you just might find motivation to do a few more things :-).

  • http://bettercloser.com Bill Rice

This was a great resource for a small business owner. There are so many ideas out there–it is hard to learn what is really important and effective. It is great to have a resource from a battle scarred veteran. Helped me focus–thanks!

  • Travis Campbell

Thanks Bill, glad you are in the game. And the battles will continue. It’s not *that* bad, if you are willing to work a little bit harder (more importantly, smarter) than your top competitor.

I look forward to sharing more in the near future with you and others here.

  • Andrew

Finally a report provided online that isn’t offering a get quick solution…I really appreciate the real life advice and application these reports offer. I’m really looking forward to more information like this…please keep it coming. I recently started my own small business and am trying to learn as much as I can to become profitable…these reports are an excellent resource. I also appreciated the quick turnaround time on the documents. I will be referencing this site often

  • Steve

Thank you Travis good stuff. I have been on the internet since the early 90′s and yes many things have changed for the better but not all. One of the biggest challenges being how to work smarter rather than just harder. Either way you can soak up tons of time the 60,000 dollar question is how to get the results instead of just spinning in circles. You do have some good ideas and I look forward to exploring them further.

  • Travis Campbell

@Andrew welcome to the site, glad you found the reports useful, and that you are planning on visiting often. This is created with you in mind.

@Steve I’m with you Steve, all the experience in the world doesn’t bring in revenue, you have to be able to execute intelligently. It takes an incredible amount of focus, and isn’t easy, but it is the highest leverage position to be in, online marketing.

    Others?

  • Mark

I don’t normally write on blogs, but since you asked…What you are giving away here is outstanding, and offers an honest assessment, and yet a framework to operate in without all the fluff. Thanks for being so honest. As for which point I liked most. It was Part 2, #4, I read that and was like “duh…” seems so obvious, but I had overlooked it for sure.

Thanks for sharing from your experience Travis. Oh and very nice site by the way.

Travis, I have to say, I’ve “opted-in” to special reports before, but what you have done with these two reports is e-x-e-p-t-i-o-n-a-l. You have given me a lot to think over. I really found your take on feeling overwhelmed on #10 of Part 1 of the report to be refreshing. Glad to know I’m not alone! You will be hearing from me Travis.

  • http://www.siteofwisdom.com Percival

So nice seeing real people talking about their IM techniques. I very much prefer this than reading their words. Gives me a kind of sense of authenticity about the ideas presented.

    Percival-

Thanks for chiming in here, glad to have you on board.

Do you mean FAQ part 1? There have been some email delivery issues sending the confirmation links for those joining with a yahoo account, consider joining with another address (gmail works well), and you should be able to confirm without issue and complete the process to get both FAQs (and the bonus…shhhh).

  • http://www.stooky.com Chris

    Hey Trav,

The FAQs were awesome. I just finished Part II. I read it over 4 times and marked it up and let things sink in. Both FAQs were packed with useful time-saving information. I really liked the fact that you specified some proven resources for us, such a time saver (and headache saver).

The quality of the material was professional and I felt like I was making good use of my time by reading it (4 times!!).

Good fortune to you my friend.

    Chris.

(via email: posted with William’s permission)Hi Travis,Thank you very much for the interesting report. I stayed up to 3:30 am reading Part One so it must have been enjoyable reading. I will read Part 2 tomorrow. I appreciated the fact that you made your points in a succinct no nonsense fashion, something that is unusual on the internet. I particularly liked the fact that you lead the reader to sites where a marketer’s problems could be resolved by knowledgeable people (vendors). I found your advice to be practical and straight forward. I appreciate the fact that you also stressed the importance of obtaining certain services (particularly an auto responder) and provided links to companies that could provide them. In summation I would only re-iterate my thanks to you for providing me with interesting and valuable information.Best regards,William MacDonald

Hello Travis and thanks for all of the great information. I found it to be very informative. These were very important points and tips that I'm sure I would have overlooked.

I tried a couple of those get rich gimmicks and none of them worked. Everyone seems to be just flat out not telling the truth. I was a little discouraged and wanted no part of any online business, until I came across yours and for some reason I felt like you were being honest and that you really wanted to help people succeed at this.

I'm going to give it my best effort and I'm sure I will do great at it. All I ask is that you continue to help. I'm serious about this; I simply just can't afford to get burned again.

Thanks again Travis and I hope to hear from you soon.

  • Armando

I must say this is one of the more valuable, and professionally done “bribes” to get on a list that I've seen. Thanks for taking the time to put it together, I found the clarifications on social media and “having direction” very helpful.

  • Gina

I am having a problem with settling on one product since I see the stuff that is missing. I guess it would be like filling the holes in a wall. I have affiliates just don't know where to put them…lol I am just so confused!!

    • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

Welcome to overwhelm. :-) Slow down, step away, determine where it fits in, and take the next logical step (that is the simple answer). Does this help?

    Hello from beautiful Montana:

I enjoyed the suggestions you shared. It is great to have others learn and earn together. There is enough success to go around, so all of us can have some.

Keep forgetting the importance of keywords. You reminded me again.

    Very Nice read, Travis.

I've been researching online marketing for over a year, and, to be honest, have had my ups and downs, and at times, have been confused as hell as to what to do, or where to go next.

There is a lot of conflicting information out there, and a newbie never really knows what to do next, until it “clicks” in their head, that “This” follows “That”.

I have tried step-by-step marketing programs, helpful though they were, they STILL needed to add a few steps to make it all work.
Oddly enough, those steps are really the core of online marketing, or ANY venture: Perseverance, the right attitude and mindset. Without these key ingredients, even the most detailed road map is useless. It all starts in one's mind, and must be sustained there until it becomes reality.

I wish I had your FAQ when I was first starting out. I know it would have helped me to find direction, instead of procrastinating because of over analysis. Too much information (or anything, really) is a bad thing.

After all I have read, and all I have learned in my studies of marketing, many key points have echoed in your FAQ, and it has thus earned a place in my “Must Read” list of recommendations to any marketer I come across.

Thank you for the honest, down to earth wisdom.

    Regards,

    Greg

I didn't like Part 1. Part 2 was better but regarding your “Use keyword tools to determine the related search volume”. OK so now using what? and how?
    • Search Blogs in Google, as well as Technorati to understand the
discussions in the market- OK so what online tools do you use for this? typing blog into Google isn't exactly beneficial
    • Survey potential consumers talking about their desires (i.e., Twitter,
    forums, blogs) OK
    • Set up listening posts for related keywords (i.e., Twitter search, Google
alerts) OK using What? How?… What are the best tools.
    • Ask the market questions about their challenges and ideal solutions (i.e.,
Yahoo Answers, LinkedIn Answers, Twitter) Good

But then again this is a year old. Maybe time for an update…

    • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

      latchonmardi-

Thanks for chiming in with your candid feedback. Sorry to hear you didn't like part 1, there are no really decent tools for gathering social intelligence for free that I'm willing to recommend here. Trackur is one of the more popular tools, that is reasonably affordable.

If I may, ask you a question, what of the report have you been able to apply in your business? Certainly you can't apply everything, that wouldn't be realistic, but perhaps 1 thing that you can get started with now (or already did)?

The plan is for the report to be updated later this year, and all subscribers will be notified as soon as it's available to download. Stay tuned.

      Thanks again,
      Travis

    Hi Travis,
I just finished reading the first two reports. It's great stuff – thanks for outlining it in a way that's so easy to consume and understand. I especially liked the specific suggestions for determining whether there's a market for what you offer, whether that market has any money, and valuing conversion goals (question #4). My partner and I have been defining these three areas in a similar manner and this was right on track!

I look forward to reading more!

    Thanks!

Thank you for the insight and answers to some of my questions as well. Learning to be an online spiritual coach has been a real challenge, first ensuring I have content anyone wants to read and then getting them to pay attention. Most of all staying consistent and not letting the weather send me packing. Storms this week knock me off line. Finding balance in a day is not easy, everything seems so darn important, must get done. Overwhelm and shut down. Still facing the challenges, but your articles so far have been an inspiration. Thank you.

    • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

Connie, keep your chin up, many are in your shoes, with a passion to share with the world, yet have a learning curve when it comes to getting that word out (marketing).
Remain consistent with the things that will pay dividends in your online business for years to come.

    Hi Travis,

When I found myself signing up for your MarketingProfessor reports I was asking myself ‘are you crazy? How many of these stupid reports that never teach you anything are you going to read?’

But honestly, I was surprised. These reports are well-written and packed with useful information. I did actually learn a few things.

More than that though, your writing made me realize how very close I am to success–you motivated me.

    Thanks.

      Patricia-

Thanks for chiming in here. Glad you found the reports to have useful information for your brain, an inspiration for your heart.

Are you able to take action on the information you learned?

  • LaNita

I’m probably an intermediate with computer knowledge but ignorant about Internet Marketing. It is confusing when trying to set up a website as to the charges and abilities of the pro-offered site. Can you make any suggestions as to how to go about looking at web hosting sites? What kind of questions should I be asking? I feel like I’m getting half the information when looking and only after finding out that there are more charges in the upgrades do I realize that I haven’t gotten all of the information needed to make a good business decision. HELP! :-)

    • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

LaNita. I feel your pain and concern.

The reality is most domains that are purchased are never hosted, and most domains that are hosted, have very little traffic. Most website owners don’t understand what it takes to get traffic. Web hosts count on “little traffic” sites for revenue, if they aren’t being used they are more profitable than if they are.

My recommendation: go with a known hosting company (like the one found here), that will allow you to upgrade services as you get more traffic to the site. Most sites can be started with entry level hosting plans.

Hope this is helpful. If not, ask away.

    Hi Travis,
Greetings from Michigan, I honestly can not tell you how your Marketing ideas and implementations work compared to many others that have Internet presence, but what I can tell you is that destine leaded me to your video presentation on your tube.

I do not know any thing about Online Marketing, never tried before, after watching your video and subscribed to your web site, reading your Marketing Professor reports, I quickly learned that you are a true professional in your field.

I think that one of the many specific points and advice on your report is to learn to be patient, taking time to read and comprehend the process of techniques implementation, your expert advice, will lead me to realize positive results developing my present and future plans.I need to take advantage of your professional experience, and learn from your business frustrations as well.

What is my point?, simple, I need you help, advice and guidance, will like to know if I can contact you directly so I can make you aware of my Internet Presence Plans, and learn if you can help me to implement them.

You are my first contact on this subject, hope there will be no need to seek other resources.
     Regards,

    • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

      Juan-

Glad to have you on board. I responded to this but for whatever reason, it looks like it didn’t make it here. Glad you found value in the reports offered freely here to new subscribers. There is a lot to “online marketing” but most need to focus on a few key areas to get results. Why not use me to test and tell you what works and what doesn’t, right?

As to your interest, I personally respond to and prioritize all request made on the service page,  http://www.marketingprofessor.com/services/
Fill out the consulting form there, and I’ll be in touch.

      Thanks again, and welcome.

    Hi Travis,
Just noticed an error on page 13.
One more thing on failure. I would be lying if I said I enjoy it. I do not, and you probably don’t either. However, it is a natural part of life, unavoidable. Take heart, what great thing has been done in the human race that was not first predicated on failure? Consider many inventions that were proceeded by failure. Last sentence:  Shouldn’t it be preceded instead of proceeded ?.precede [pri s?d]
(3rd person present singular precedes, present participle preceding, past and past participle preceded)
    vt
    1.  come or go before something: to come, go, be, or happen before somebody or something else in time, position, or importance
    2.  introduce something with something: to say or do something before something else
[14th century. Via French < Latin praecedere 'go before' < cedere 'give way']precede or proceed? Do not confuse the spelling of precede and proceed, which sound similar. The verb precede has the prefix pre- ('before') and means 'come or go before': March precedes April. The verb proceed has the prefix pro- ('forward') and means 'begin or continue with an action' or 'progress': She proceeded to explain what had gone wrong. • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

      Jack-

      I like you already! :-)

I believe that if we don’t remain humble in our efforts we cannot learn from failure. Thanks for taking the time to be specific in your feedback. As you can see I am a work in progress. I promise I won’t be perfect. However, I don’t want you to be perfect either :-). Aspiring to be perfect in our craft is noble, however it often leads to procrastination, then paralysis.

Apparently I modeled that (not perfect) in some way, as you so astutely pointed out (for which I am grateful).

I have it in the queue to update the Marketers FAQ in the new year with these and other changes.

      Don’t be a stranger!

      -Travis
PS: My apologies for the delay
in my response here. Working on
      that too :-)

      Charlierein-

Give yourself a deadline, then follow it! I respect caution, but don’t let a question for perfection kill you (see response to Jack below).
