Changes- What MarketingProfessor.com Readers Should Expect in the New Year

marketing-online-changes-in-the-new-yearEnd of year is a great time to evaluate, regroup, and generally be honest about what’s working well and what’s not.  This is important for individuals and businesses alike.  In reviewing this last year, we’ve (myself primarily, and team members) identified areas to improve so readers and subscribers receive greater benefit, and we are in a position to grow for years to come. As a part of these improvements, here are a few changes subscribers can expect in the coming year.

Changes What MarketingProfessor.com Readers Should Expect in the New Year

First, thank you for being a reader or subscriber, thanking you personally would be great, fortunately interaction on social media sites have helped close the gap considerably.

Second, things change online, and fast! While we’d like to keep things the same, offering fresh content in the same old way (posts, video, emails, etc), that is not always possible or in our readers best interest.  We will alert you of any changes (as we are in this post), which might impact your experience with us.

Now, those changes I was talking about…

Product Review Posts

These posts, by far, are the ones with the most positive reader feedback.  Many online marketing product reviews on the net are very thin or spammy, we desire to provide useful, informative product reviews, and fortunately readers seem to appreciate the reviews posted here.  So, look for more product reviews.  Some online marketing products require greater investments than others, so the depth of the reviews here will reflect accordingly.  We look forward to offering reputable and balanced online marketing product reviews for years to come.

Site Layout Updates

While there won’t likely be any major design changes, the site will be enhanced to improve the reader experience.  One of the things we are prioritizing, is site performance.  Many of these changes will be transparent to the user (consolidating code, changing hosts, etc.) while balancing this effort with site monetization.  Therefore you may find new ad placements, etc. as we seek to strike the balance between usability and profitability.

Enhanced Email Communication

The Internet is full of busy marketing professionals, we hear you.  Therefore we are upgrading how we communicate with subscribers.  Making our content (available for Kindle users earlier this year) more compatible with a diverse set of mobile devices, while delivering more useful email (people don’t always have time to read via RSS reader, or visiting the site).

What we’ve learned: subscribers want more information about products we use, or recommend (and why/how).  Therefore, we’ve decided to change our email newsletter approach, starting in January there will be two email publications. The first “What’s Working Now” discusses what marketing technologies are working now (how, and who is doing it best), and the second (“Special Edition”) for time sensitive items such as a change on your favorite social media site, as well as product launches in the Internet marketing industry.

To be clear, we use many products, and are affiliates for most of them.  Yet, until now, we’ve not done a good job prioritizing conversation around these products.  So, we are making changes.  We owe it to subscribers, and we feel email is the best way to do this in addition to sharing other “Behind the Scenes” information. :-)

Monetization

We feel, if the site doesn’t continue to grow both traffic and revenue, it shouldn’t exist. Updating the layout, and enhancing email communications will also help us to monetize the site and keep things growing for years to come.

Conclusion

We are adjusting with the times to provide more value for subscribers and to sustain growth.  What are we missing?  YOU.
