After 30 days with the Android Incredible, a video was created to share impressions thus far. This post includes also the video and a recap (if you prefer to read). How I observed local Google Buzz activity on the device, what I like about the device, what can be improved with the Android Incredible, and why a hard reset of the device was necessary.
Android Incredible After 30 Days – Part 1
On day one, (here’s the Android Unboxing Video) I observed from downtown Denver what Google Buzz looks like on Google Maps. Location based Google Buzz, makes social and mobile marketing more engaging. This is especially useful for those who have what I call a “social gathering” business like restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc.
The Things I Like About the Android Incredible
Apps - There are many (free) apps for nearly possible need one could have, making the phone even more useful (more on mobile marketing apps in Part 2).
Widgets - These are windows of information from applications placed in one of the seven panel screens on the android. The video shows the widget from Accuweather.
Video - Decent video quality, uploaded a video to YouTube from an event as well as shot video while in the mountains (shown in the video), and the quality exceeded my expectations for a SmartPhone.
Voice to Text - Allows you to speak into the phone and converts your voice to text (ahh… brilliant explanation, I know). This can be used for search (as demonstrated in the video), or populating any of the fields instead of using the on screen keyboard.

How Google Could Make the Android Incredible Better
Touch Screen - Over sensitive, or unresponsive at times. My wife’s iPod Touch is noticeably better.
Battery Life - May not be a big deal if you charge every night. I found when using a lot of apps, the battery life went down significantly. Not mentioned in the video, but this is even more pronounced when using the navigation “Car Panel” application. Yes, it has navigation, which is very handy.
Why My Android Incredible Needed to Be Hard Reset
It is still unclear to me why I could do virtually nothing with the phone (email, reading text messages, installing apps). I was getting “phone storage is full” message, even though the system said I had over 90% phone storage free.
As mentioned in the video, it behaved as if it may have had a virus, but I could not determine that as I was unable to install any anti-virus software (yes, there is Antivirus free in the Android Market).
The guy at the Verizon store did a hard reset of the phone, and had to reactivate the device. Good News: all useful data was in my Google account online, making the setup of the device relatively easy (other than photos, there was no data transfer needed).
