HootSuite on iPhone Adds Language Support Just In Time for Worldcup

I’m user of HootSuite, and a fan of the program from a productivity and time savings perspective.  With a recent purchase of the Android Incredible I was pleased to see that HootSuite is on the Android (but still needs work).  Today HootSuite sent me an email announcing an update to the iPhone version of its social media productivity software…get this, adding full localization for four languages.

Let’s Talk Worldcup for Just a Moment.
Growing up, I was never a huge soccer fan. That changed 12 years ago shortly after getting married.  As someone who married a Brazilian our household is readying itself for the international soccer event that only comes every 4 years.

Worldcup 2010 Get’s Social

While I’m still not an avid soccer fan, I do thoroughly enjoy this global soccer event.  It’s amazing …during the Worldcup in 2006, Facebook and Twitter were unheard of (started in 2004 and 2006 respectively), let alone Hootsuite.

While we won’t be at the live month long tournament in South Africa, iPhone users will now be able to use HootSuite in one of the following languages:
o English
o Japanese
o German
o Spanish
o …and Portuguese (the language of Brazil)

While I don’t have the exact numbers, it is a fair guesstimate (and that is what it is) to say that these languages cover 85-90% of those who will be in attendance for Worldcup matches.

Other Improvements to HootSuite on the iPhone

Easier Translation
HootSuite has enhanced the translation features (supports 50+ languages) of it’s latest update, users can now click the translate button and foreign text will be translated to your phones default language.

o Email a Tweet

Worldcup Fan or Not HootSuite is World-class

You may not like Brazil, or even Soccer, that’s ok.  If you are an iPhone user and value social media for reputation management of your company brand, or just want to be more productive, Hootsuite is a must.  This is a great move and based on previous updates to HootSuite is consistent with their regular releases of quality user driven features…  Now if my Android version would stop crashing… story for another day.
