Review of New Social Features in Constant Contact

The rise of social media for business has resulted in email marketing service providers integrating their own social pieces into their offerings.  Constant Contact recently added new features to do just that.  The service now gives customers the ability to sent a tweet when publishing newsletters, and the ability for newsletter readers and event attendees to share via Twitter and Facebook.  Features are highlighted below accompanied with screenshots.

Review of New Social Features in Constant Contact

Marketers love the idea of content “going viral” and social media provides one of the best mechanisms for that to happen.  While viral campaigns may not happen with every attempt they are achievable when there is attractive or shocking content that can be easily shared.  Constant Contact now makes it easier for customers to share content  on social networks.

Tweet and Share Your Newsletter

Prior to customers broadcasting a newsletter in Constant Contact, they now have an option to send a tweet out using their integrated Twitter account.  The tweet includes a link to an online version of their newsletter.  Which makes the next feature so valuable.

Shared Emails Get a Facebook Like Button

When readers click through the link in the newsletter tweet, they see the online version of the newsletter with a couple new buttons on the top.

  • There is a Facebook Like button that permits readers to share on their Facebook wall as  ”Like”.
  • Share button giving readers the option to share on Twitter, Delicious, and other social networks.
  • Join Email List button, making it easy for those who clicked through the tweet link to sign up as a subscriber.  This a great list building technique which can result in higher conversion and more sales online.

Event Registrants Can Share Via Social Media

One feature that makes Constant Contact unique is their event registration engine.  Customers can use the email marketing to announce an event, and the event registration to manage attendees.  Now those who register can either share the event in Facebook or send a tweet regarding the event.  More on event promotion on Twitter here.

Bottomline on These Social Features

Sharing information through social networks is commonplace and are essential for today’s small business marketer. Customers of Constant Contact can start taking advantage of these right away to get the word out, and grow their influence.
