2 More Great SEO Plug-ins for Firefox

legitimage-ways-to-make-money-onlineLast month I shared 3 Great SEO Plug-ins for Firefox, because with web 2.0 marketing strategies, you need software tools to help you understand and discover how you are doing in key areas online. As I mentioned in the article, one of the great things about using Firefox as your web browser is the wide range of add-ons available that can help you take advantage of the many legitimate ways to make money online. Continuing that discussion, below are a couple other great add-ons for implementing successful web marketing strategies.

2 More Great SEO Plug-ins for Firefox

NOTE: This is not a complete review or exhaustive list (there are many) of Firefox add-ons for search engine marketers using web 2.0 marketing strategies. Share how you are using these and other add-ons, or other web marketing strategies, in the comments section right after this post.

Web Developer

The Web developer add-on is likely one of the most powerful tools for web developers, and is a must have for an effective web 2.0 marketing strategy. It is a great gizmo for search engine marketers and optimizers who are interested in legitimate ways to make money online because of the ability to dissect a page and understand how it is seen from a search engine perspective. With such information you can make better ‘on page’ decisions so the search engines see themselves as welcome visitors.

For example, with this tool you can disable or clear cookies, java and javascript, CSS styles or a selected style, along with many, many other things that can affect your web design, and even your web marketing strategy. As a primary component in my web marketing strategy, I like the ability to look at a page linearly as the search engines see web pages.
To do so, off the web developer options (toolbar, or off the tools menu), choose:

  • CSS-Disable Styles-All Styles
  • Then under Images-Disable-All Images
  • And Images-Display Alt-Attributes
  • Under Miscellaneous-Linearize Page

The page will look like text, with a few links, and ballooned yellow boxes (for alternate image attributes), this closely resembles how the search engines look at this page. The version I performed this with was 1.1.6. Whether new, or an experienced search engine optimization marketer, you will save time with this add-on.

Google Semantics

This little gem comes in handy when you enter search terms into Google and you need to brainstorm for other keywords. What’s unique here is it pulls from a list of synonyms already in the Google index for the search term or phrase you submitted, and places near the top (hyperlinked) of your search engine results page (SERP).

Firefox is a great browser, it is fast, light, and is pretty stable. What’s more, is the availability of software to enhance the Firefox user experience, called plug-ins, while improving even the simplest web 2.0 marketing strategy. If for some reason they go awry, or you no longer need them, they are also easy to disable. For search engine marketers, whether you are interested in understanding how your site is optimized, or what the competition is doing, these search engine optimization plug-ins for Firefox are useful and can save you considerable time as you develop more legitimate ways to make money online.

Continuing the Conversation: How do you feel about Firefox? Ever used add-ons? If so, which ones? What add-ons/tools do you like for monitoring search engine optimization? Chime in using the comments box below.

Add-ons is one of several reasons I use Firefox. Web Developer in particular is something I use every day, I’m particularly fond of the ruler tool for checking positioning when designing a page.

The disabling features that you mention for SEO are also handy for accessibility, to see that the document is flowing in the correct order for text only browsers.

Firebug and Greasemonkey are also great tools for Web Developers. I wrote an entry last year, How did I get by before Firefox Add-Ons? In which I included Paul Fenwick’s video, “How to Fix the Web with Greasemonkey in 3 minutes.” and listed a few more helpful add-ons for SEO that may also interest your readers. Cheers!

      Heidi-

Thanks for your thoughtful input. Indeed Firefox has the flexibility that a lot of web users and internet marketers desire and need (some of the things one didn’t even know they needed). For those with an online business, having tools that help them be more productive, (rather than another distraction) and ultimately profit is essential, especially in this economy.
