Glad you are on board with this idea. I think it is worth paying attention to and prioritizing for any business serious about growing online.

Others?

Joel,

You are good at telling stories! :) I like this part very much:

"I am a brutally honest, and not so politically correct, Northeast Ohio entrepreneur. I am hyper-focused on the world of franchising, and I am willing to work my brand of franchise matchmaking magic on the select few who will put their trust in me."

Best Premises,

Martin and Joel-

I agree those are great strategies, perhaps your about me or social connection pages can be an expanded edition of your public profile pages on various social sites. For simplicity, I've included the most popular connections in the Online Connections box at the bottom of this page.
Amanda-
While t may be unlikely that your friends would be interested in listing you as their employer, however they may list your site as a 'blogroll' of sorts, or favorite sites. if you outsource, you might also consider asking those working for you to update their profile with you information as their employer.

How are others of you using profile pages to extend your reach?

Great job on this article.
Jim Kukral also had a tip, a while back. He suggested that we should all spice up,our "About" pages, too. He said that we should "tell a story."

I have a small business I'm in the process of starting, so we have few employees, but I have tons of friends with profile pages on all different sites so this concept would be a great way for me to generate traffic just by reaching out to my nearly immediate circle! Thanks for a great idea!

Zappos is a leading company, using social media. I bet that they will keep their customers happy. It is a matter of trust (internal and external).

I have compiled most of my profile pages on my own personal domain .name! Martin.Lindeskog.name

vidiSEO-
Admittedly it is a bit of an advanced strategy, in a world that many are just getting familiar with social networking. Companies like Zappos are a great example (and have a big lead over the competition). Thanks for your input.

I love what Zappos has done by highlighting employees that tweet. Would be a great idea for marketing agencies to show off the talent and interests of their employees (provided they are appropriate). I'm surprised more companies aren't doing this.
