Announcing Google Plus Secrets – Maximizing Google Plus for Business

Google plus is here. Some are delighted to have another social network to choose from, others, already overwhelmed, are asking the fair question, “Does my business really need another social network?” It may.

Google Plus Secrets is designed to help businesses get their bearings with Google’s new social network, for more targeted traffic, better email delivery, and more. Before I get to that, let me ask you a question.

Have you ever had a wake up call? You know, something that causes you to realize something else much more important?

I don’t have those very often, but it’s fair to say that’s what happened… It was about 1 week after using Google plus, I looked at my Google Analytics and saw that traffic from Google Plus was the number one referral source of traffic for this site. In today’s post I’ll share what happened next, what Google Plus Secrets is, why it was created, who it’s for, and how (for a short time) you can get in at no cost.

Announcing Google Plus Secrets – Maximizing Google Plus for Business

What Happened Next?

After learning that Google Plus was this sites number one referral source, I began researching, and building a collection of tips and strategies to apply to my sites, and advise clients. After spending countless hours using the service and testing these ideas, it was suggested that I create something to help others get up to speed fast. Something more than another Google Plus tips post, video training.

My initial reaction: hesitation. Here were some initial thoughts included:

  • It’s too early for a video training series.
  • Who would pay for it?
  • Don’t I have to be a social marketing legend/guru to put out such training?
  • Videos take some time to produce, what if I put it on the market and it’s too late? It would take too long to create the training.

Then I was gently corrected…

After speaking with people I respect, I was confronted with the following rebuttals.

  • Rebuttal #1: “It’s too early…” Based on the information you’ve seen, does this look like this is another Google mis-step, or do you believe they are in this to win? Do you believe they can win? Remember those who are first to market are often rewarded accordingly.
  • Rebuttal #2: “Who would pay…” Those who understand the value of their time would pay. The time you spent learning Google plus is valuable and not for everyone. Those who understand value will gladly part with money in exchange for saving time.
  • Rebuttal #3: “Don’t I have to be a social marketing legend/guru…” Not at all, if you put out helpful information, people will get it and tell others. Many times guru’s don’t offer detailed training. As Zig Ziglar says, “Help others get what they want, and you’ll eventually get what you want.” (paraphrased) Who knows what might happen if this product hits the sweet spot.
  • Rebuttal #4“Videos take some time to produce…” video production only takes long if you strive for perfection. Make them useful and helpful, so you can get it in the marketplace quickly. Don’t make perfect videos or website to start. Allow customers to direct you to refine what you present (you can always make version 2 later).

What is Google Plus Secrets?

Simply, a video training series designed to help businesses understand how they can use Google’s new social network for more exposure, traffic, and ultimately sales.

Google Plus could be an email marketers dream. Virtually guaranteeing delivery of messages to your subscribers inbox simply by being a G+ user.

I don’t like monthly fees, and avoid them in my business unless I can truly justify it, therefore, early on, it was decided that that membership would be a one-time fee.

There are two levels of membership at this time, standard and premium. Standard is about 90 minutes of video training on the essentials of Google Plus for business.

Premium is an additional set of videos with more advanced training such as:

  • 8 Part series on Building a Power Network (including how to import contacts from LinkedIn)
  • Adding a Google Plus feed to any website.
  • Building value conversations.
  • Improving your profile search rank.
  • SEO and your Google Profile.

As new information becomes available the training will be updated.

Why You Created Google Plus Secrets?

After seeing those pesky Google Analytics, and talking with trusted advisors, I felt it was doable. With the following criteria:

  • It would go on the market quickly.
  • It would be affordable for any business.
  • It would be a solid value that would facilitate feedback from it’s customers for future improvement.
  • The site and video would not be perfect, but would be good enough to deliver the valuable content with customer driven improvements over time.

If you can handle that criteria… Claim a spot, and sign up here.

Who is Google Plus Secrets For?

Anyone who has a Google Plus account (or wants one), and wants to save time figuring it out enough of it on their own to determine how to use it in their business. Oh, and if you want to learn some valuable tips along the way, Google Plus Secrets was created with you in mind.

How to Get Google Plus Secrets for Free?

I’ve dealt with “free” customers before; they can be a drain on any business. So, since I’m basically a one man shop, I hesitated to invite this as a possible drain on the site. Realizing it could take me away from improving the site with updated training videos as Google continues to improve the service.

However, as with any new venture, there is more value in feedback from customers than any sales numbers. Therefore, as long as the site is in “launch mode,” standard membership is available at no cost. There is a one-time fee for Premium membership. When signing up at Google Plus Secrets you will be presented with a one-time-offer for Premium. You can always upgrade to premium later on, but it won’t be at the special price presented in the one-time-offer ($27).

So go ahead, and check out Google Plus Secrets, and let me know what you think. Look forward to seeing you there!

Looks very interesting Travis. I’m going to try it out, and gladly pay for the upgrade as I’m one of those people who have NO TIME to figure it out on my own. Thanks for putting it together.

Thanks Travis.  I’m still finding my way in Google+ and I have to figure out a lot of things.  I wonder if Google+ is an open invitation to email marketing spams we hate to get in our inbox.  Also, do you think Google+ will dominate the Social Web when there have been plenty of talks about social media fatigue lately?

    • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

We are all still finding our way around Google+ :-)

Google has a track record of dealing with spam for some time (search & email), and so far that’s been true in G+.

No idea if Google will dominate the social web, with Facebook having 750+Million users they have their work cut out for them.

What I do know, is that out of the gate Google plus impacts other channels in which Facebook has less traction, namely search & email. These are channels every online marketer does well to monitor. GPSecrets.com was created to help business people who are overwhelmed with social networking channels determine if/how they will implement it in their marketing plans.

Thanks Travis!  I love your insights… and I’m excited to see how the social landscape will be in the next 6 months.  Yes, you can’t deny the fact that Facebook got 750M users the world over.

    Chris-

Not looking to compete in IM per se, rather learn what people want from Google plus, and see what can be done to offer that, and hopefully help many people along the way. Time and customers will tell.

You’ve got some great things going for you, and you’ve contributed to readers many times here in the comments, I hope you stick around!

    With gratitude,
    Travis

I am totally cool Travis, there is going to be tons of crappy products pop up around Google+, believe me. I would rather not play the game and fight a war on two fronts, than watch what I was going to publish ripped off again and again.

Here’s the best reason you can use Google+, or Buzz or Reader for that fact, and I said this back in 2008 when Google Friend Connect was released…..

Since your Google social contacts are added by Google to your Google contacts list, the more people on your email list that follow you on Google, the more you are whitelisted in your subscribers address book on Google and Gmail.

Because when I follow you on Buzz, Reader or G+, your name and profile URL is added to my address book, / Gmail contacts. When you follow me back, our email addresses are usually shared too, since we have a mutual relationship. This has been true going back to Google Friend Connect in 2008. What privacy settings will mature in G+ remains to be seen, but it WILL get your email delivered to Gmail, and that is very important.

Thought I might make it clear who came up with that fact 3 years ago, since I saw someone claim it is their’s just this week :]

Yes, I am really excited about Google Plus. But, right now it’s not available for everyone. So, until it’s available for me I have to wait and let’s think about it how will it be:)

Well i think they have lost their users just because of late launch because if they launch Google Plus for everyone for the very first time so i think the user ratio could be increased much more.
