google-announcement-for-marktersYesterday Google announced 5 new services that not only shakes up the market a bit (iPhone, Bing, Yahoo, and others), but are another step in a series of bold moves by the search giant to remain the dominant player, and extend their tools to the mobile searcher. However, are these services useful to marketers in some way? I’m not so sure. What do you think? Read more

3 Useful Stats Plugins for Wordpress

wordpress-stats-plugin-reviewSometimes you need to take control, and use some on-page stats tools to understand visitor behavior.  Not to say that other, off site tools like Google Analytics aren’t useful, but most bloggers I know are in their Google Analytics account, or even their hosting account stats program, far less than they are in their publishing (Wordpress) administration panel.  Of course Google provides valuable data, but how often do you login to Google Analytics?  I went on a quest to find complimentary tools, allow me to share them here.

Review of AuthorityLabs Keyword Tracking and Monitoring Service

authoritylabs-reviewThere is so much to running an online business, that key things can fall through the cracks, because, well, they take so much of a marketers time.  While some may argue that SEO is overblown, and getting all the targeted traffic with pay per click is their preference, you still should be aware of where you fall in the search engine results pages (SERPs).  Besides, the goal should be to pursue top SERP placement, and move away from PPC for converting keywords – after all, those clicks are less expensive.  The problem has been finding a decent product or service that would track your keyword placement, and graph it over time.  Windows based software packages often require human intervention and users just forget to run the reports regularly.

Let me share with you a service that I’ve been using for nearly 6 months (when possible, I prefer to vet services for a while before posting a review), that sets my daily keyword tracking on autopilot.  I’ll share what AuthorityLabs does, who it’s for, who it’s not for, what first impressed me about the service, the number one thing I’ve learned since using AuthorityLabs, and what’s missing from the service. Review of Keyword Research Pro Software

keyword-research-product-reviewEarlier this week while at the gym I saw a television documentary illustrating how search engines (focused on Google) are the go to source for more and more people globally when looking for information.  It discussed how the number of daily searches online continues to grow at an incredible rate, and how this is a global trend (not just in first world countries).  For online marketers, understanding what searchers are searching for, and why is key.  More than that, keywords are the foundation of any online property.  A few months ago, I started using a product that helps users save significant time with keyword research, Keyword Research Pro.  Today I would like to share my first impressions, the Top 5 things I’ve found using it, my #1 discovery, who it’s for, who it’s not for, what missing in the product, my take, a video, and more.

Google Caffeine Feedback From Around the Web

I was reading about Google’s latest search engine overhaul which is forthcoming.  Google Caffeine is designed to compete with social media sites like Facebook (Friendfeed), and Twitter with improved real-time search.  Like any early technology it has its share of issues, but it seems again that Google has the right idea.  Below is a compilation of articles that talk about this subject (and I found interesting). Google PageRank Impacts Your Twitter Profile

google-pagerank-twitterGoogle Page Rank, mention that phrase in a room (virtual or otherwise) of SEO juggernauts, and it spikes a hearty discussion at a minimum. Google’s measuring stick of a web pages value has been debated from being paramount, to irrelevant. Whatever side of the fence you are on, the numbers don’t lie. Have you looked at your sites page rank lately? How about your Twitter profile? With recent changes in how page rank is calculated, it is obviously not irrelevant to Google, and is worth another look. Read more
